These Maasai handmade necklaces are just amazing, they are made from pieces of Porcupine quill and tiny black beads in between and have a little paddle shaped bronze colour drop at the end of each tine.
Porcupine quills detach easily and so are easy to find in Kenya.Some quills, like those on the African Crested Porcupine are nearly a foot long (30cm) so many beautiful pieces of jewellery can be made from just a couple of quills. No Porcupines were harmed in the production of this product.
The photos really do not do this necklace justice – it is beautiful and delicate and would certainly be a taking point when worn at any occasion.
The necklace secures with a bronze colour hook clasp at the back of the neck.
